Triston Jensen

Jensen, a Detroit Michigan native, is entering his second full season with the Mallards following his playing career at Saginaw Valley State University (for whom he is now the National Scout). With a commitment to developing hockey players and young men, Coach Jensen has brought an exciting new culture to The River. Focusing on the advancement of players to Tier II and college, the Mallards have been able to create a unique environment for players to grow  on the ice, in the weight room and in the classroom.  

Prior to his time at Rum River, Coach Jensen played collegiately at the University of Toledo and Saginaw Valley State University after playing his junior hockey in Isanti with the former Minnesota Owls of the now folded Minnesota Junior Hockey League. Coach Jensen now resides in Ham Lake, MN with his german shepherd Nornir.

Dan Sibell


Sibell, an Isanti Minnesota native, is entering his first full season with the Mallards. A veteran to youth hockey in the Cambridge-Isanti community, Dan brings 15+ years of coaching to The River. Coach Sibell has spent most of his coaching career helping to develop home grown talent in and around Isanti with his biggest product being his own son, Jake Sibell, whom is currently playing with the Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League and committed to the University of Niagra (NCAA Division I). 

Matt meyer

Matthew Meyer, a native of Midland, Michigan has joined the Rum River Mallards as Head Scout and Director of Player Development. Meyer transitioned quickly after playing hockey into his career as an up and coming hockey coach and executive. Since 2013 when his career began, Meyer has held numerous roles within high level hockey. He has spent time coaching at the ACHA level with Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University, and at the NCAA Division III level with King’s College. Meyer has also spent time in hockey operations with the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, as well as being mentored in scouting by those at ISS Hockey. 

Meyer is a certified Level 4 USA Hockey coach and received his Master of Arts degree in Athletic Administration from Central Michigan University in May of 2018.
